Beyond Insurance… Part 2

Luckily my client renewed his policy so we could help him. But there are many senior citizens in similar situations who decide to discontinue their health insurance policies.

Before discontinuing health insurance policy one should consider these 5 important aspects.

  1. In medical emergency you might have to spend money from your savings
  2. If you don’t have a Health Insurance policy you will have to take your medical treatment from any hospital that fits in your budget
  3. If you don’t have sufficient savings you will end up being dependent on your children, relatives, friends, or charity. I don’t think this is the kind of situation you would like to be in
  4. It becomes a little difficult to buy a new health insurance policy when age is not on your side, given that countless individuals suffer from diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, and other aliments as they grow older. Moreover, a new policy comes with a waiting period for pre-existing diseases.
  5. In case there is a genuine financial issue, one should reduce the sum insured and continue with the policy instead of totally dissolving it.
  6. Now health insurance porting option is also available but before porting do study all the aspects of health insurance porting carefully.
  7. I have seen many individuals who spent their entire retirement money and the savings on their medical treatment as they did not have any medical insurance.
So be insured and save your savings…
